MENSTRUAL HYGIENE AND PADS DRIVE

February 2, 2023 @ 11:00 - 20:00

Many communities continue to associate menstruation with filth, secrecy and shame pass those values to a girl to mold her self-identity. She grows up hiding and being constantly ashamed. Hence it is important access comes along with education to ensure behavioral change in the family & community at large

Menstrual Education is an important right of passage adolescent girls especially girls living with disabilities. Access to these services is a challenge because most girls living with disabilities come from low income families struggling to maintain basic needs, medication, education and daily needs. At Andy, We are increasing our reach and tapping into with special needs and disabilities. Beside, menstrual Education , products we incorporate confidence building exercise as modelling led by our founder Sylvia Mochabo – (Ms Africa Elite 2022 & Queen of Africa 2022) to help girls love their bodies and who they are

In January 2022, Andy Speaks partnered with Sister Speaks under their initiative, Heels4Pads funded by Nissan Kenya to support 450 special needs girls, 50 caregivers & women with disabilities by supplying reusable sanitary towels & dignity kits that can last up to 2 years at Dagoretti Special School.

We also had a pads drive and donation of Dignity Kits at Joy Special School in Thika where our founder taught girls modelling as an exercise to build their confidence and self-esteem.

Similarly, we did a pads drive at Baba Dogo Community. Menstrual Health products are costly and are a necessity for teenage girls and women. Our goal is to support and advocate for menstrual products being accessible and affordable.
